Fernando C. Filho, MSc - Big Data Analytics
Fernando C. Filho, holds a B.Sc. in Computer Systems Analytics and a Masters Degree in Biotechnology with a major in Bioinformatics at the Ribeirão Preto University (UNAERP), in São Paulo, Brazil. He also did a specialization at the Brazilian National Laboratory of Scientific Computation in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Fernando worked at the Molecular Biology and Genomics Laboratory in the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research (LICR), developing tools to mine data from the human genome for gene discovery in cancer. He recently founded a Consulting Company under his name with the aim of providing Software Quality Control Analytics for different corporations in the healthcare sector.
Marcelo P. Coutinho, MD - Clinical Genetics
Marcelo P. Coutinho, MD has graduated as a physician with honors in Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. He got his Masters Degree in Medical Genetics at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (URFJ) and did a specialization at Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA. Dr Coutinho created the first Database on Neurofibromatosis for the National Center of Neurofibromatosis (CNNF) in South America. CNNF (www.cnnf.org.br) is a worldwide success and is comprised by several reference centers in different cities. He has recently co-founded the company DataGenno (www.datagenno.com) to serve as a portal for genetic disease information.
Adolfo Mota, MSc, Ph.D. - Microbiology
Adolfo Mota, M.Sc., Ph.D. has graduated and got his Master's degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Vale do Paraíba in Brazil. He holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Genetics from the University of Sao Paulo (USP) in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Dr Mota is now a Visiting Professor at the Federal University of Amazonas and a Researcher at the Biotechnology Center of Amazonia both in Manaus, Brazil. His main interests and expertise are molecular genetics and evolution of microorganisms, with an emphasis in fungi biodiversity and pathogenicity.

Alysson R. Muotri, Ph.D. - Neuroscience, Stem Cells and iPS Cells
Alysson R. Muotri, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor at University of California, San Diego. His main research interest is understanding the formation of brain complexity by the activity of mobile elements in the genome. He earned a BSc in Biological Sciences from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) and earned his PhD in Biology Genetics from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Tulio M. Santos, MSc, Ph.D. - Biotechnology and Molecular Biology
Tulio Santos, M.Sc., Ph.D., is owner and founder of UNICLON, a Brazilian Biotech company dedicated to developing and producing industrial enzymes for in vitro diagnostics. He is also an Associate Consultant at ENZYTEC. Tulio M. Santos earned his Masters and Ph.D. Degrees in Biochemistry at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), did Post-Doctoral trainings at the National Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS) in Brazil and at Harvard Medical School in Boston, U.S.A. His main research interest is Protein Engineering applied to the development of new varieties of enzymes for industrial use.
Leo Iwai, Ph.D. - Proteomics
Fabio Passetti, Ph.D. - Bioinformatics
Fabio Passetti, Ph.D. leads the Laboratory of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology at the National Cancer Institute (INCA) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He earned a BSc in Biological Sciences from the State University of São Paulo (UNESP) and then he earned his MSc and PhD degrees in Bioinformatics from the University of São Paulo (USP) in Sao Paulo, Brazil. His main research focus is the integration of genomic, transcriptomic and proteomic data aiming to find new molecular markers for cancer.
Thomas Wurdinger, Ph.D. - Cancer Genetics
Thomas Wurdinger, Ph.D. is the co-director of the Neuro-oncology Research Group at the VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam, Holland. He is also a research fellow at the Molecular Neurogenetics Unit in the Massachusetts General Hospital affiliated with Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA. His main research interests are understanding the complexity of brain tumors and the identification of targets for cancer treatment.
